I would like to reinforce this truth to you; God who sees you also hears you when you call Him. God hears and listens.
It is obvious, there is a difference between hearing and listening. You can hear and not understand a single word spoken or not take the word to heart. But when you listen, you give attention to what you hear with willingness to take action.
Our God listens and hears
The word of God says “it shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer and while they are still speaking I will hear” Isaiah 65:24. (New King James Version).
The Message Version of the Bible puts it this way “Before they call out, I’ll answer. Before they’ve finished speaking, I’ll have heard” Isaiah 65:24 (Message Version).
Another portion of the Bible clearly stipulates: “This poor man cried out and The Lord heard him and saved him out of all his trouble” Psalm 34:6.
Let’s talk about poverty for a brief moment. Being “poor” does not mean you are financially bankrupt. It is the state of lack in which you find yourself. With or without money you have needs and various problems. When you are unsettled in your mind, and your soul is troubled with crisis. When you are weary and tired with life – this is a type of poverty.
You may have money and still fit into these categories. When you are so desperate for peace of mind, you are a desperate poor man or woman!
The Message Version says it right “When I was desperate, I called out, and God got me out of a tight spot” Psalm 34:6.
All the material possessions are of no use to anyone at this moment. That is why the word of God says “the poor man cried” and the Lord heard and saved him from all his troubles.
Sometimes in our lives, we tend to believe that because answers are not quickly received, God did not hear us. Beloved, that is not so.
Daniel’s story settled such arguments for us: “Then he said to me, ‘do not fear, Daniel, for from the VERY FIRST DAY that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, YOUR WORDS WERE HEARD, AND I HAVE COME BECAUSE OF YOUR WORDS’” Daniel 10:12.
This should help you get back on your faith walk right now!
From the very first day you prayed (like Daniel) God heard and set the ball rolling for answers BUT between the throne of God and our world, there is another world above us. It is the place where spiritual wars take place according to Ephesians 6:12, which says “for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places”.
This was what Daniel experienced. Not knowing that an angel was on an errand with his answer but the Prince of Persia withstood the angelic messenger for twenty one days! (Daniel 10:13)
If not for his attitude of persistence in prayer he would have lost the answer to his prayer.
Michael, one of the chief angels, was dispatched as a result of Daniel’s relentless prayer.
I pray you will try and understand this truth and not just give up because you did not get a quick answer to your prayer. Remember, delay is not denial.
Do not allow the enemy to deceive you; to cause you to believe that God does not have time for people like you because you have not received what you asked for. Our God hears and respond to our prayers.
Jesus said “ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish will give him a serpent? If you being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:7-11.
Never give up your petitions until your answer is in your hands.
Since God sees and hears, these functions must be evidently operational in our lives too, in our relationship with Him.
God who hear us expect us to hear Him too.
Do you hear from God and how does God speak to us?”
God speaks through various ways.
“Then He said “Hear now My words; if there is a prophet among you, I The Lord, make Myself known to him in vision, I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face even plainly, not in dark sayings and he sees the FORM of The Lord why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?” Numbers 12:6-8.
1: As we know that we are spiritual beings with souls and bodies, now through His Holy Spirit, God speaks to us though our spirit.
In Isaiah 39:21, He said “Your ears shall hear a word behind you saying this is the way walk in it” Isaiah 39:21
2: When we read the Bible the good Lord speaks to us through His written word.
3: God speaks to us through dreams and visions and many other forms, but whatever form He uses in communicating to us, they all agree with His word. Both spoken and written word do agree together lest we become victim of error and deception.
We are in an age where social media is in control of the day. To some, reading the Bible is becoming difficult, where daily chores are getting tedious and the battle of the mind is increasing, what time do you have for God to give you a response to what you require from him? It is not enough to talk to God who hears, He too wants to respond the same way to your call on Him. So give Him your time and ears.
We are quick to talk to God but too busy to hear Him!
If Daniel was not persistant, he would not have heard the reason for the delay of his request.
You may think “what does He Want to talk about that should warrant my attention, after all He is God. With or without me He can just whisk His hands and solve my problems”
In Jeremiah Chapter 33 verse 3 God said “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know”. Apart from you calling on God, there are great and mighty things about your life which you do not know. The root of your challenges, the purpose God has for your life, the directions to take to avoid getting into the same situation of pain needed communicating to you.
Great things are for great people! Give God time to speak to you and show great things to you so that your journey of faith can be a victorious one!
Pastor Lola Oyebade began what is now known as House On The Rock International Church as a small Bible group in her living room on the 4th February 1992 with her husband and two children.
The church is now a registered charity with a vision to have a congregation from various countries around the world worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ together regardless of age, colour, culture and language.
Even in those small Bible study days at the start of the church, she took her call seriously by reaching out to people around her with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and mentoring disciples for the Lord.
Her message has always centred on “with God all things are possible.” She strongly believes that if God said it, it is DONE. If your vision is of God no one can stop you, but you alone. This is the testimony of her life. Whether ministering to people on the mission field outside her local church or in her own local community, the message is forever challenging listeners to keep on believing and to expect the miraculous.
She is an ordained minister with an Apostolic mandate. Pastor Lola is a tremendous blessing to many as she has taken the gospel to many nations, with signs and wonders as an evidence from the Lord.
