For most of us, the festive season is a time of joy and family celebrations. Unfortunately, there are thousands of children in the UK right now who are facing a Christmas without food, warmth or love. Action for Children is working to change this – and they need your help.
Their Emergency Foster Carers are trained to that ensure children in care have a safe and loving home over Christmas. With spare presents wrapped for children, they need to help at a moment’s notice.
Some Action for Children centres are open over the holidays to support families who have nowhere else to go.
They distribute food from local food banks to make sure children don’t go hungry.
Their staff call children on Christmas Day to let them know someone is thinking of them.
This is why they are asking you to be a Secret Santa for a vulnerable child this Christmas to help them make a vulnerable child’s Christmas safe, warm and bright. Secret Santas don’t have reindeers or wear big red suits. Nonetheless, they’re doing something very special indeed.
How your donation can help:
£10 could pay for a child to have a hot meal over the Christmas period
£20 could buy a toy or books for a vulnerable child who might otherwise receive no presents this Christmas
£35 could provide a Young Carer with a much-needed break to meet up with friends, or other Young Carers over Christmas
£50 could help provide a safe place for a young homeless teenager this Christmas
These children won’t know who it was that made sure they were warm, or that they felt safe, but they’ll know someone, somewhere, was there for them. And you’ll know that you’ve made their Christmas that little bit brighter.
